Represented by the University of Algarve and funded by the EU through the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme, the focus of iHERITAGE project in Portugal is to promote the Mediterranean Diet and its importance for the cultural identity of the Mediterranean.

It is with great pleasure that iHERITAGE Portugal presents its third training session, incorporated within the iHERITAGE project. On the 25th of January from 11 am to 12 pm, the Portuguese team, from Ualg – Universidade do Algarve, will present its third training session by introducing the iHERITAGE MED DIET mobile app.

This session is free and open to the community; your registration must be made through the following link. In addition to the presentation of the mobile app’s development, architecture and functionality, the session will also highlight the virtual routes created and the points of interest of the respective concepts inserted in the research theme of the project in Portugal: the Mediterranean Diet.

The project’s objectives travel through the investigation of intangible cultural heritage – the practices, representations, and knowledge – as well as the instruments, artefacts and cultural spaces associated with these. The achievement will be the offer, both to the local community and to the flow of tourists, of a part of the cultural experience transmitted from generation to generation in response to the environment, interaction with nature, power of gastronomy, the history of landscape and the sense of identity and continuity in the Algarve.

The session summary is as follows:
11:00 am – Introduction to the project and the objective of the training | Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves
11:10 am – Theoretical structuring and scientific framework | Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves and Mauro Figueiredo
11:30 am – Practical development of concepts | Laura Dorsch
11:40 am – Functionalities and mobile applications | Mauro Figueiredo

Within iHERITAGE, following innovation-driven growth processes, brand strategies for the affirmation and better knowledge of intangible realities, the digitalisation of cultural routes have started an alternative way of showcasing the heritage of different cultural universes.

For Portugal, this means developing digital platforms capable of enhancing the cultural experience, the history of the landscape and the sense of identity and continuity of knowledge of the Mediterranean Diet, more specifically, the country’s geographic case study: Tavira.

The HERITAGE team thanks you for your presence!
