The 2nd Steering Committee Meeting will occur in Algarve during the 13th and the 14th of July. In the form of a physically and hybrid meeting via zoom, the event will happen at the University of the Algarve, in ESGHT – School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism.

The encounter of the Mediterranean Diet is a national congress from a national network of higher education institutions from the several members involved in the project iHERITAGE – ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO cultural heritage, supported by the EU through the ENI CBC Med Programme.

The goal of this project is to create innovative ways to develop augmented reality technologies, virtual reality and mobile applications that enable the improvement of the experience of visiting the cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO. In the case of the Algarve, the actions are being developed by the University of Algarve, which has as cultural heritage element the Mediterranean Diet, recognised in 2013, as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Starting Tuesday, July 13th and ending on the following day, the event will occur in ESHGT – School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism and all members associated with the project will be able to join online, via zoom.

The project will support collaborations among universities and provide new solutions to promote cross-border technological transfer, Living Labs, industry-academia collaboration and the creation of spin-offs and new products, using the latest Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR). The project includes six countries: Italy, Egypt, Spain, Jordan, Portugal and Lebanon.

iHERITAGE ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO world heritage is a strategic project funded by the EU through the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme. The ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme of the European Union is co-funding 90% of the iHERITAGE project’s total budget of € 3.874.287,06.
