Represented by the University of Algarve and funded by the EU through the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme, the focus of iHERITAGE project in Portugal is to promote the Mediterranean Diet and its importance for the cultural identity of the Mediterranean.

As part of the iHERITAGE project, on March 18th, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Algarve – Escola Superior de Gestão, Hotelaria e Turismo and the Municipality of Tavira. This partnership has the purpose of providing images, research information, inventory and registration methodologies and documentation on the subject Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Algarve, in order to support the development of the iHERITAGE project.

In its turn, the iHERITAGE project undertakes to disclose the source and credits of all information granted. This partnership comes at an opportune moment for the iHERITAGE project, as it is part of the Living Labs schedule, where the focus is centered on the technological approach to the Algarve’s intangible cultural heritage, validating also social and cultural elements, connected in different ways to the history and memory of the Mediterranean, thus provoking a necessary development of the critical sense in the local and global community. This agreement aims at spread the historical-cultural experience of the Algarve and create the necessary synergies between the local community and institutions.

Portugal is currently part of the iHERITAGE project, aiming to promote and enhance the Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage through innovative experiences by creating cross-border living labs for research and innovation.
