{"id":115,"date":"2021-11-15T10:52:47","date_gmt":"2021-11-15T10:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iheritage.ciac.pt?p=115"},"modified":"2022-01-17T23:13:19","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T23:13:19","slug":"news-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iheritage.ciac.pt\/en\/ualgs-fieldworks-reinforce-the-value-of-the-mediterranean-diet","title":{"rendered":"Ualg\u2019s fieldworks reinforce the value of the Mediterranean Diet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The research behind the Mediterranean has developed a path towards endless opportunities in gastronomy, history, methodology, music, architecture and so on. <\/p>\n<p>\u2028Portugal is currently participating in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enicbcmed.eu\/projects\/iheritage\">iHERITAGE project<\/a>, aiming to promote and enhance the Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage through innovative experiences by creating cross-border living labs for research and innovation. <\/p>\n<p>Within iHERITAGE, and following innovation-driven growth processes, brand strategies for the affirmation and better knowledge of intangible realities, the digitalisation of cultural routes has started an alternative way of showcasing the heritage of different cultural universes. <\/p>\n<p>For Portugal, this means working in the development of digital platforms capable of enhance the cultural experience, the history of the landscape and the sense of identity and continuity of knowledge of the Mediterranean Diet, more specifically the country\u2019s geographic case-study: Tavira.<\/p>\n<p>Currently fieldwork activities of the Portuguese iHERITAGE Team from UAlg navigates through the cultural elements in Tavira, focusing mainly on the olive oil activity, with a detailed presentation of the manufacturing process, as well as its didactic interpretation and dissemination about the protection and conservation of Mediterranean research. <\/p>\n<p>The methodological approach in the field is being developed through contextual inquiries and interviews of the local community while also collecting a photography and video archive to capture moments of true hospitality, southern scenery and inquiry. <\/p>\n<p>The selected sites for the fieldworks are interconnected in such a way that the relationships between them are as important as the relationships within them &#8211; places in space are not a mere collection of units, there must be a homogeneity and identity that reveals the joint study of these cultural geographical points. <\/p>\n<p>This experience will hopefully allow a closer interaction between tourists and locals, as it will endorse the rise of technological development as well as to drastically reduce environmental and ecological risks.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the University of Algarve, the focus of the Portuguese team is to promote the Mediterranean Diet and its importance for the cultural identity of the Mediterranean.
