iHERITAGE Portugal\u2019s case study, Tavira, showcases Mediterranean diet\u2019s traditions with ten short videos.<\/p>\n
The Portuguese iHERITAGE team from UAlg is currently navigating through the cultural elements of Tavira, whose cultural heritage element is the Mediterranean Diet. Following this framework and as part of the iHERITAGE project, the main goal for the Portuguese team is to promote and enhance the Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage through innovative experiences by creating cross-border living labs for research and innovation.<\/p>\n
Mainly focused on the olive oil activity, the iHERITAGE partner intends to engage in a didactic interpretation and dissemination of the protection and conservation of the Mediterranean diet. The research behind these ancient traditions has led to unique gastronomy experiences, history, methodology, music, architecture, etc. During May and June, the Municipality of Tavira, through the Competence Center for the Mediterranean Diet, produced ten short videos\/spots that explain the different aspects of the Mediterranean Diet for the young\/adolescent audience. <\/p>\n
On the 26th of May, a video about the Cob Day was presented to showcase the importance of ancient traditions that add value to the diet\u2019s techniques. On June 5th and 9th, two more spots will be released during the environment week: \u201cThe Mediterranean Diet and the Environment\u201d and \u201cThe Circular Economy in the Mediterranean Diet\u201d. Lastly, on the 18th of June, to mark the International Day of Picnics and Sustainable Gastronomy, the spot \u201cFrom the Territory to the Plate\u201d will be presented, and to celebrate the International Day of Family Farming, on the 25th of June, the spot entitled \u201dThe Mediterranean Diet and Agriculture\u201d will all be released.<\/p>\n
These videos were made within the scope of the project \u201cSafeguarding the Mediterranean Diet for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and model of a sustainable society\u201d by the Competence Center for the Mediterranean Diet (CCDM), in which the Municipality of Tavira is a beneficiary member.
